Back in May, we had three young people from our Darndale centre undertake a very important role of hosts of Sphere 17’s first ever podcast ‘SPHEREcast’. Abbey, Charlie and Ruby had taken part in a recent Dublin based initiative called the ‘Transforming Hate’ programme. It was here they had their first experience of being introduced to the podcast world and in turn requested if this could be explored further as a programme for their group in Sphere 17.
Their Youth Workers Marius and Jay linked in with Near FM, who designed a programme of training, studio use for hosting the interviews and the post production and editing afterwards. The programme ran for 7 weeks in total and this included 4 weeks of interviewing guests. The guests the young people chose to invite were all local inspirational people who they believed were role models, making a difference or positively representing their community.
The podcast aired in July and it features 4 episodes which we hope you enjoy.
